Avenue of Poplar

Image
This drawing is titled Avenue of Poplar. This piece was made in 1884 in the month of March. Vincent van Gogh drew this piece with pencil, pen in brown ink, on wove paper. I liked this piece because of the simplicity of the work itself along with the detailing. Makes me wonder who exactly was he drawing? And where was this person walking to? Overall the piece is simple, yet the drawing still tells a story and that is why I picked this piece.

Vincent Van Gogh - Emily Dee

Image
This is Vincent Van Gogh's drawing “Road to Tarascon”. This drawing depicts a man walking with numerous trees blooming with leaves overlooking the road. I enjoy this piece because although it has a lonely feel, it is also very comforting and peaceful. The ways the lines are drawn makes it look like the trees are moving.

This is a nice drawing.

"Boats on the Sea"

Image
This sketch is called "Boats on the Sea," created in 1888 by Vincent Van Gogh. According to vincentvan gogh.org, this was done using pencil, reed pen, quill, and black ink. This sketch caught my attention because of how much motion it shows. The short, curved lines of the water make it look like wind is blowing and waves are rising/crashing. The curved look of the sails makes the boats look like they are moving across the water as well. I also like how much depth there is, because sailboats are actually visible far out on the water and on the "horizon" of this sketch.

This drawing I found from Vincent Van Gogh intrigued me by its simplicity yet detail-oriented. The drawing is able to give me an introduction to farm life and makes me feel as if I'm in the painting. I enjoyed the way the trees, bushes, and grass were drawn, it looks a lot to fulfill how a tree would look like yet its just lines!  I also enjoyed the more you look towards the back of the drawing the more complicated it looks whereas on the bottom is where it's more simplistic.  I also enjoy the small things like the flowers on the right side bottom of the drawing near the brick wall.

En Route Drawing

Image
This drawing is called "En Route" by Vincent van Goth and was created in January 1881. This image shows a man that is in the midst of travel to his destination. I choose this image as it reminded me of the journey of life, especially in college. Many of us are still trying to find ourselves as we get ready to graduate college and enter the workforce. This journey will have many twists and turns, and our plans may change along the way, just like the man in this image.  *All information that I received on this image can be found here: https://www.vangoghgallery.com/catalog/Drawing/903/En%20Route.html

Vincent Van Gogh Drawing (Girl and the cradle)

Image
This drawing is called "Girl Kneeling by a Cradle" created in the year 1883 by Vincent Van Gogh. The girl that is kneeling is his niece Maria and the baby in the cradle is his newborn nephew Willem. I chose this drawing because I was drawn to how the girl was peering into the cradle of her newborn sibling. This reminded me of the relationship between my sister and I. That is me being the oldest and always looking after her. I also like how Vincent Van Gogh captured this moment in particular because it shows the curiosity and innocence of an important time in an older child's life.
