The drawing above is a self Portrait by Käthe Kollwitz in 1921. This drawing caught my eye by the expression on the face. She seems lost in her thoughts and is upset. The way she uses the charcoal to create the cuts in her facial structure and the defining on the eyelids and nose, makes this a great realistic portrait.
