Emily Gursky "Black Venus"

This is a collage titled "Black Venus" made by Romare Bearden in 1968. I really liked this collage because of how many different elements are in it. Each person is kind of silhouette-like with minimal details. Each figure is also in a different position which is interesting too. The room as a whole makes sense in terms of space too, because the figure in the foreground is the largest, and the person furthest into the background is the smallest. I also think Bearden added depth by making a "doorway" in the top right corner and two steps up to it. The different wall color in that section actually made it look like a separate room.
