"The Peppermint Bottle"

Still life, peppermint bottle, 1895 - Paul Cezanne

This painting is called "The Peppermint Bottle" by Paul Cézanne, an oil painting completed between 1893 and 1895. I was drawn to this still-life, mainly because of the white cloth and what appears to be a blue blanket or jacket. I really liked how realistic their creases and folds look. I personally feel that fabric is a very difficult object to draw or paint. I also liked how vibrant each fruit is. They appear to be peaches and all have slightly different coloring from each other, which adds to the realistic feel of this scene. The glass bottle is also really interesting, because Cézanne captured its transparency. Its curved shape distorts the peach and the white cloth behind it, too.
