This drawing is called “Road in Etten” created by Vincent Van Gogh in 1881. This artwork depicts a winter road in Etten and the daily lives of the locals. I learned that a lot of Van Gogh’s artwork depicted Dutch farmland and laborers performing their basic routines. I chose this picture because I found it fascinating how Van Gogh was able to incorporate dimension in order to draw the viewers attention down the road. I also think it is interesting how he used very little color which became more apparent the longer I looked at the drawing.
