Emily Gursky Shiele Self Portrait
This is a self portrait by Egon Shiele with charcoal and pastel. I chose this one because I thought the way the figure is positioned was unusual but interesting. I also really liked how Shiele used different colors to show contrast and different values in his face and the shirt/jacket. The dark blue/black on the figure's face help define the cheek bone and creases on his forehead. The reds and blues on the shirt/jacket really give it depth and helped me see the folds and creases in that as well.
